Since becoming a mother I have been lucky enough to surround myself with other mothers that continue to inspire me. They inspire me to be stronger, work harder, and love more. However, Paige Dizon takes the cake on this one. Just a few days before this shoot she was receiving chemo treatment #15 and her 3rd dose of what they call the “red death”. A type of chemo that is so insanely harsh that you can only receive it 4 times in your life. Just 4. This was her third. Imagine, she woke up, had to change diapers, deal with grumpy babies in the morning, get kids dressed and fed….then sat in a hospital while a nurse, clad in a hazmat uniform (because that wouldn’t scare you as the patient at all), pumped a red jello like substance into her body. Now THAT is inspiration. THAT is a mother that teaches us all what true STRENGTH is. So here we are, just 3 days after. She is exhausted, constantly nauseous among many other side effects…..and still has to be a mother. An amazing mother. I watched her make blueberry pancakes, decorate a tree in the backyard with Easter eggs, wipe tears, give hugs, play with bubbles, take a long walk, run up and down a playground and take her daughter on the slide. Just 3 days after “red death”. And then there is Ronnie. A father like none I have ever met. Like many fathers he has the usual worries on his mind, providing for his family and all. Only he also has to be a major support system for his wife and children right now as they face this nightmare. He has to smile through the worry. He keeps the fridge stalked with all of Paige’s favorites just in hope’s that when she is hungry he will have what she craves. He is amazing and inspirational in his own right. Together these two are everything. And then their daughters….Naomi and Makoi. Full of life and spunk and all things that make being a parent so worth it. This family, their story, is a gift for us all.
It is my pleasure to introduce you to the Dizon Family.
