When we first met Emily & Matt they mentioned to us that they always dreamed of honeymooning and doing portraits at Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon. To our knowledge this had never been done, and we told them we were in if they were! A week later we all had permits to hike and camp the canyon. To get down to the falls it’s a grueling 11 mile hike with heavy packs of camera gear, tents, sleeping bags, etc. But once you’re at the bottom there is just no place like it on earth. The water has an incredible turquoise color to it from the minerals in the rock, and the feeling of being so small and insignificant in such a grand place is such an amazing feeling. Emily & Matt invited 4 of their closest friends to join them on their journey, and we had an absolute blast getting to know them and roughing it for a couple days with everyone. Hair and makeup was done at the camp table, getting dressed was done behind the tent, and we blew other hikers minds wondering the trails of Havasupai. By the end of the shoot we were all soaked and freezing from the cold water of the falls, and overwhelmed from the incredible experience it was to photograph in such a majestic place. Here are a few highlights from our adventure:
